Graeme started his career as a corporate lawyer in Scotland in 1992, before joining Deutsche Morgan Grenfell in 1996.
Graeme has c18 years experience as an investment banker and has completed numerous private and public UK transactions. Graeme also has five years experience as a solicitor practicing corporate law, and as the COO of the corporate and commercial practice of a large US law firm.
While at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, Graeme worked in the M&A teams in London and New York, before moving to Merrill Lynch in 2000. At Merrill Lynch, Graeme latterly worked in the Financial Sponsors Group with coverage responsibility for certain key financial sponsor relationships. He joined Global Leisure Partners in July 2009 as a senior M&A banker and also the firm’s General Counsel. At GLP Graeme acted on the sale of Liberty plc, the sale of GMG Regional Media and BC Partners’ acquisition of phones4u. In 2011, he was the senior execution banker on the hotly contested and very public acquisition of the Tote by Betfred.
In 2012, Graeme co-founded Dean Street Advisers. Graeme is actively involved in every Dean Street mandate.

Iain qualified as a Chartered Accountant in London in 1980. He spent the next seven years of his career specialising in corporate recovery with KMG Thomson McLintock. Having disposed of a number of assets during this period, Iain decided to utilise and build on his experience and moved into investment banking.
In 1998 he joined BZW, where he specialised in divestitures. Iain spent 10 years working at BZW, during which time he advised on a number of M&A transactions across a broad range of sectors in a number of countries. In particular he advised Barclays Bank on a number of disposals and M&A initiatives. Mervyn was a member of the advisory team on several transactions on which Iain was advising.
After leaving BZW, Iain continued to focus on financial institutions as co-head of Corporate Finance at Barclays Bank PLC, and latterly as a Managing Director in the Financial Institutions Group at ABN AMRO Corporate Finance.
In late 2003 Iain formed Balcary Associates, where he would provide services on a consultancy basis. In 2004, Balcary Associates was hired by ABN AMRO Capital to advise on, negotiate and execute a complex break-up of an investment, which involved a total of 15 divestitures in five countries over a five year period, largely on a full time basis.
Iain, now retired from M&A, joined Dean Street Advisers as Finance Director in 2012. He provides the team a great deal of relevant insight and experience as the business develops.

Evgenij joined Dean Street Advisers in March 2015.
Prior to joining the Dean Street team Evgenij worked at Arma Partners where he focused on M&A transactions in the TMT and Aerospace & Defence sectors. Notable transactions include the sale of Butterfly Software to IBM and the sale of Basefarm to ABRY Partners.
At Dean Street Evgenij has worked on several transactions including the acquisition of Citation and the sale of the AA’s Irish business.
Evgenij holds a Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Imperial College London, where he specialised in Structural Mechanics and Composite Materials.
Evgenij was born in Zhdanov, USSR and grew up in Cologne, Germany. Evgenij has lived in the UK since 2006.
Mervyn began his career in the City of London in 1994. Since then he has completed over c100 transactions in all fields of investment banking advisory (M&A, equity and debt) across the wider consumer space of retail, media, leisure, online and business services.
Mervyn commenced his career at BZW and subsequently joined Merrill Lynch in 1998, where he spent almost 11 years, leaving as a Managing Director. While at Merrill Lynch, he originated and executed a large number of transactions, including the sale of lastminute.com, the acquisition of HIT Entertainment by Apax Partners and the partial sale of Trader Media Group for Guardian Media Group. In late 2008 Mervyn joined Global Leisure Partners as head of the London office, where he completed 10 transactions ranging in size from c£50m to £900m, despite very challenging market conditions. These transactions included CVC’s partial acquisition of Virgin Active, BC Partners’ acquisition of phones4u, Betfred’s acquisition of the Tote, the sale of Liberty plc and the Stonegate acquisition of over 300 pubs from M&B.
In 2012, Mervyn co-founded Dean Street Advisers. With a real passion for the advisory business, he cares about creating real and propriety situations for his client base of corporates and private equity alike, as well as providing clear and independent advice. Mervyn is actively involved in every Dean Street mandate.
Mervyn was born in 1972 in Zimbabwe and moved to the UK in 1979. As an alumnus of London School of Economics Mervyn has both a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Economics.
Mervyn’s ability to spot potential translates to his private interests; he is an avid collector of contemporary art, particularly younger British and American artists, with a particular focus on strong visual imagery.
Mervyn’s wider interest in the arts extends to his role on the Development Board of Shakespeare’s Globe.close
Joseph joined Dean Street Advisers in January 2016.
Since joining he has supported the team on all active mandates, including HgCapital’s acquisition of Citation from ECI Partners, the €157m sale of AA Ireland to The Carlyle Group and OpCapita’s acquisition of the Football Pools.
He holds a BSc in International Business Management from the University of the Arts London’s business school where he specialised in Corporate Finance and Strategy. After graduation he undertook additional study in Corporate Finance with London School of Business and Finance before joining the firm.

Karl joined Dean Street Advisers in June 2017.
He started his career at Strata Partners in London, where he was involved in buy-side, sell-side and capital raising mandates across Europe within the TMT sector, before moving to RBC Capital Markets and being exposed to various investment banking projects across a range of international M&A, equity & debt capital markets and corporate banking transactions. Notable transactions include the sale of data centre assets to Digital Realty by Equinix in May 2016 and Liberty Global’s acquisition of Cable & Wireless in November 2015.
Karl holds a MSc in Finance & Management from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and a BSc in Economics from Gutenberg University of Mainz. He speaks both German and Polish.close
Sophie has over 15 years of professional experience in a variety of roles and industries including advertising, hospitality, performing arts and international media events. In her previous role at Cannes Lions she organised creative festivals across the globe, managing a large team and producing prestigious industry awards ceremonies.
Having worked in People Management, as well as Project and Account Management Sophie brings a wealth of operational and administrative experience to Dean Street Advisers where she supports the team and runs the office, accounts and diaries.
